Banda italiana formada em 1966, em Marghera, Veneza, originalmente pelos integrantes Aldo Tagliapietra, Nino Smeraldi (guitarra), Claudio Galietti (guitarra, baixo) e Marino Rebeschini (bateria). Inicialmente, seguiam uma linha pop psicodélica, lembrando algumas bandas do gênero como Moddy Blues, Beatles e Fairport Convention. Em 1968, antes do lançamento de seu primeiro álbum oficial, Ad Gloriam, Rebeschini deixa a banda e é substituído por Michi del Rossi, ao mesmo tempo em que o tecladista Tony Pagliuca se junta à banda.

Em 1970, com o rock progressivo cada vez mais em alta, decidem finalmente aderir ao gênero em voga com o álbum "L' Aurora", sendo que a banda agora perde os integrantes Galietti e Smeraldi. Agora em sua fase progressiva, a banda começa a ganhar sucesso pela Europa, especialmente no Reino Unido, inclusive conquistando dois discos de ouro. Em 1971, lançam "Collage", álbum que mostra maior maturidade em suas composições. Em 1972, com o álbum "Uomo di Pezza", gravam pela primeira vez com uma orquestra, com destaque para a sua abertura, que na verdade é uma releitura de Johann Sebastian Bach.

Em 1973, é lançado uma das maiores obras-primas da banda, "Ferona e Sorona", cujo contexto gira em torno da interação entre dois planetas distintos. O álbum foi produzido em parceria com o pianista da banda Van der Graff Generator, Peter Hammill, que lança sua versão inglesa em 1974. Entretanto, o pianista acaba disassociando seu nome do projeto. Em 1974, sai o álbum "Contrappunti", repetindo o mesmo êxito dos álbuns anteriores, e "In Concerto", que foi o seu primeiro registro ao vivo.

Após mais alguns lançamentos, o grupo se separa no início da década de 80, voltando à ativa em 1986. Em 1992, o tecladista Tony Pagliuca deixa a banda para seguir carreira solo, sendo substituído por Michele Bon.

In 1968, before the release of their fisrt full-lenght album, "Ad Gloriam", Rebeschini left the band and was replaced by Michi del Rossi, at the same time where the keayboardist Tony Pagliuca join the band.

In 1970, with the rise of Progressive Rock, they finally decide to join the genre with the album "L' Aurora", since now they lose the members Galietti and Smeraldi. Now in their Progressive era, they begin to gain success around Europe, mainly in UK, also winning two gold records. In 1971, they release Collage, wich shows greater maturity in their compositions. In 1972, with the album "Uomo di Pezza", they record with a orchestra for the first time.

In 1973, they release one of their masterpieces, "Ferona and Sorona", whose context talks about the interaction between two distinct planets. The album were produced with Peter Hammill, pianist from Van Der Graff Generator, that released your english version in 1974. However, he dissociates his name from the project. In 1974, they release "Contrappunti", repeating the same success from their previous albums, and "In Concerto", that was their fisrt live record.

After plus some other issues, the group disbanded in the early 80's, but returning in 1986. In 1992, keyboardist Tony Pagliuca left the band to follow solo carrer, being replaced by Michele Bon.
